Gallery: Children Enjoy Early Halloween

Local youth enjoy Halloween Hoopla, trick or treating with downtown Deerfield businesses and a special party.

Deerfield’s children got an early start on Halloween Saturday with a bundle of events in the Village.

For youngsters in costume there was no reason to wait until the Village’s official trick or treating from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Downtown merchants were handing out goodies Saturday afternoon.

Children could go directly from trick or treating to the annual Halloween Hoopla sponsored by the Deerfield Park District to take advantage of games, crafts, rides and a haunted house. This event is attended by more people than any other sponsored by the Park District, according to a news release.

The day started with a party for special needs children at the Deerfield Village Hall sponsored by West Deerfield Township.
