Fannie May Has Festive Grand Opening

Legendary Chicagoland candy shop returns to Deerfield after more than a 20-year absence.

Fannie May Chocolates held its grand opening today in Deerfield after quietly operating for a month in its Deerfield Village Centere location.

There was a wheel to spin which was going to land on some sort of sweet treat the participant would win. The first 50 people in the door got a free one-pound box of chocolate while there was a free scoop of ice cream to all who wanted one in the afternoon.

There was a crowd on hand when Mayor Harriet Rosenthal cut the ceremonial ribbon at noon. Watch the Patch video for highlights of the festivities.
