Police: Underage Party, Theft at Whole Foods

The following arrest information was provided by the Deerfield Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Driving Under the Influence
Juan R. Castillo-Resendez, 22, of Streamwood, IL is being charged with a class 2 felony charge of driving under the influence and improper lane usage, according to Deerfield Police Reports. Castillo-Resendez was pulled over on Lake Cook Rd. at I-294 on June 16 after his vehicle got stuck on the median. Police arrived and reported that Castill-Resendez appeared off-balance, and he failed sobriety tests. His court date is set for July 10. 

Public Nuisance Assemblage
Derek Shemberg, 19, of Deerfield is being charged with public nuisance assemblage after police responded to his home on the 20 block of Ferndale Rd. on June 8 for a loud noise complaint. Police found that Shemberg was having a large pary with guests "spilling out of the home," police reports state. Police reported that they saw young adults that appeared to be under the age of 21 drinking alcohol, and they smelled cannabis. The college-age kids were sent home, and 9 youths — 6 males and 3 females — were also brought to the police station. 

Possession of Cannabis, Drug Paraphernalia
Michael Pal McWherter Jr., 20, of Deerfield is being charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, according to Deerfield Police reports. McWherter was arrested on June 9 at the Red Roof Inn located at 340 S. Waukegan Rd. Police were investigating a car in the parking lot in which McWherter was a passenger. Police located a backpack belonging to McWherter in the vehicle, and found marijuana and a smoking pipe inside. His court date is set for July 11. 

Driving Under the Influence
William E. Ohl Jr., 68, of Glenview is being charged with driving under the influence, driving with a BAC over .08 and failure to dim headlights at an approaching vehicle, Deerfield police reports state. Police stopped Ohl after seeing his vehicle at the intersection of Waukegan Rd. and Old Orchard with his high beams on. Ohl failed field sobriety tests, and a blood test at the station showed his BAC at .219. Ohl was transported to the Highland Park Hospital. His court date is set for July 3. 

Retail Theft
Svetlana Kurbala, 36, of Deerfield is being charged with retail theft, police reports state. Kurbala was stopped by Whole Foods security after she was seen taking two health products (totaling $49.84) on June 14. Her court date is set for July 16. 

Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle
Miguel Ramos, 44, of Chicago is being charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with a suspended/revoked license, police reports state. Ramos was stopped by police at the intersection of Lake Cook Rd. and Deer Lake Rd. on June 9 after a random license search found that he was driving with a suspended license. His court date is set for July 16. 

Driving With a Suspended License
Robert G. Senft, 48, of Northbrook is being charged with driving with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle after expiration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, police reports state. Senft was stopped by police at the intersection of Waukegan Rd. and Oakmont Dr. after a police officer saw his expired registration sticker on his license plate on June 15, reports state. His court date is set for August 6.

Retail Theft
Rihanna Gorder, 23, of Rolling Meadows is being charged with retail theft, according to Deerfield Police reports. Gorder was spotted by Whole Foods staff on June 13 putting a salad, scented candles, coconut water and cherry tomatoes in her bag and leaving the store, reports state. She was confronted outside of the store by security, and she told them that she didn't have any money to pay for them.
