Board Honors Citizens, Welcomes New Member

Three Guys and a Truck makes last run in June.

Before discussing legislation for Deerfield, the Village Board of Trustees took time to honor longstanding citizen contributions and the achievement of youth during its May 6 meeting.

After a 10-year run, Three Men and a Truck will make its last run from 1 to 3 p.m. June 2 at the West Deerfield Township office. Founders Carl Berg, Don Bruss and Paul Zavagno will no longer handle an event which has collected food for the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry.

Some years, the event stocked the pantry with sixth month’s worth of non perishable items, .

from Caruso Middle School, led the Pledge of Allegiance and got a sign in his honor which will also be posted at the entrance to the Village along with other state title holders.

The Board also took time to recognize the efforts going into Relay For Lifeincluding a fundraiser at Italian Kitchen from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Paint the Town Purple Saturday. National Prevention Week and Preeclampsia Awareness Day were also recognized.

Between the two meetings of the night, Mayor Harriet Rosenthal took the oath of office for her new term as did Trustee Barbara Struthers. Both were reelected April 9. .

Trustee Mary Oppenheim, who attended her last meeting as a Trustee, was also honored for her service.
