Warrior Boys’ Rally Falls Short

Deerfield High School boys' basketball team drops close game to Milwaukee Washington.

Keeping the game close throughout, the Deerfield High School boys’ basketball team fell to Washington High School of Milwaukee, 52-51, Saturday, despite a 25-point effort from Eric Porter.

An even first quarter left the teams deadlocked, 15-15, before Washington pulled ahead, 28-25, at the intermission. The Warriors narrowed the gap in the third period trailing at the end, 41-39, and fell a point short at the final buzzer.

Porter finished the night with 25 points, three rebounds and three steals. Patrick Burns and Stefanos Fasianos added seven points each. Burns was perfect from the field and made five of six shots from the free throw line. Fasianos, who had five rebounds and a pair of assists, shot 60 percent from the floor.

Deerfield is now 4-3 for the season and travels to Niles North at 7:30 p.m. Friday for a Central Suburban League North Division contest.
